No 10. Looking After Your New Look: The Ultimate Guide to Permanent Makeup Aftercare

Hello, lovely people! It’s Jenny here, back with another blog post to help you navigate the exciting world of permanent makeup. Today, we’re focusing on something extremely important that’s often overlooked: Aftercare and maintenance of your newly applied permanent makeup!

First things first, it’s crucial to note that proper aftercare is not just about maintaining the longevity and vibrancy of your permanent makeup, it’s also about ensuring a safe and healthy recovery process. Now, let’s get stuck in!

The First 48 Hours Are Key
Straight away after your procedure, your skin might feel a bit tender or slightly swollen.

This is perfectly normal. You’ll be given an aftercare cream – remember to use it as directed. It’s important to keep the area moisturised but not overly so. Too much moisture can cause the pigment to spread and blur.

Avoid touching the area unnecessarily, and when you do need to touch it, ensure your hands are clean.

It’s also wise to avoid any strenuous activities that could cause excessive sweating in the first 48 hours.

Protect Your Permanent Makeup from the Sun
Just as you protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, you should also protect your permanent makeup. UV exposure can fade the pigments over time. When you’re out and about, remember to wear a hat or use an umbrella.

Gentle Skincare is a Must
In the first week or so, it’s essential to keep your skincare routine gentle. Avoid using exfoliants or other harsh products on the treated area. Once healed, you can resume your normal skincare routine, but remember to be gentle on your permanent makeup

Long-Term Care for Lasting Beauty
The beauty of permanent makeup is that it’s long-lasting. However, a touch-up session every few years will keep it looking fresh. This is a perfect opportunity to tweak the shape, colour, or style if your preferences have changed over time.
Listen to Your Body
Finally, remember that everyone’s body responds differently. If you notice any signs of infection such as excessive redness, swelling or discomfort, seek medical attention immediately. Remember, permanent makeup is an investment in your beauty and confidence. With the right aftercare, your makeup can remain vibrant and beautiful for years to come. As always, if you have any concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. Stay beautiful, stay confident, and see you in my next blog post!

Until next time, Happy beautifying
