No 5. A Step-by-Step Guide: The Permanent Makeup Tattooing Procedure

Hi there! Welcome to my blog about the permanent makeup tattooing procedure! As a permanent makeup artist, I love helping my clients enhance their natural features and achieve a more polished, put-together look. In this post, I’ll be providing you with all the information you need to know about the process, including what to expect during the procedure, how long it takes, and what to do after. By choosing a skilled and experienced permanent makeup artist like me, you can achieve high-quality results that are tailored to your individual needs and preferences. So, let’s get into it.

Before the procedure, we’ll have a consultation to discuss your preferences, goals, and any concerns you may have about getting a permanent makeup tattoo. During this consultation, we’ll review the different types of treatments available and determine which one is best for you. I have put together a great blog already taking a deep dive into the consultation its self so please check that out first if you want to find out more.

Once we’ve decided on the treatment, I’ll prepare the area by applying a topical numbing cream to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. Then, using a handheld tool or digital machine, I’ll carefully implant the pigments into the skin.
The tattooing process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours, depending on the size of the area being treated. During the procedure, you may feel a slight discomfort or pressure, but it shouldn’t be painful. I’ll work slowly and carefully to ensure that the pigments are applied evenly and precisely. After the procedure, During the procedure, you may feel a slight discomfort or pressure, I’ll clean the area and provide you with a detailed aftercare package, including instructions on how to care for the area over the next few days and weeks. This will include things like avoiding sunlight, keeping the area clean and dry, and avoiding certain products such as makeup or skincare. It is extremely important to follow these instructions as doing so will have a huge effect on how your tattoo will heal.
Now Let’s take a quick look into each treatment and what to expect during the procedure , I will be doing individual blogs on each treatment in the future so keep an eye out for those where I will be going into much more detail:
  • Eyebrow tattooing: During the procedure, I’ll use a either a handheld tool (microblade) to carefully implant pigment into the skin, creating individual hair-like strokes that blend seamlessly with your natural brows or I will use the tattoo machine to create a soft powder effect. Both of these procedures create a realistic and natural-looking effect that can last for up to 2-3 years with proper aftercare. The procedure can take up to two hours, depending on the technique used and the size of the area, but the results are worth the time and effort
  • Lip tattooing: This technique can help to enhance the natural shape and colour of your lips, creating a more defined and youthful appearance. During the procedure, a topical numbing cream is applied to the lips to minimize any discomfort. The length of the procedure can vary depending on the shade and style you choose, as well as the size of the area being treated. On average, the process can take up to two hours but can last up to three. Rest assured, I will work slowly and carefully to ensure that the pigments are applied evenly and precisely, resulting in a beautiful and natural-looking result.
  • Eyeliner tattooing: I’ll use the tattoo machine to implant the pigments into the lash line, creating a subtle or dramatic look depending on your preference. The technique used will depend on the style you are going for, whether it’s a natural liner,  or smudged liner. The duration of the procedure may vary depending on the technique used and the size of the area, but it typically takes up to an hour.
